There’s a distinct Autumnal vibe about the place and we are beginning to prepare for frosty mornings and chilly evenings in cool, cool owl style…
We’ve stumbled upon the gorgeous cashmere wares from New York based ‘We Are Owls’ .
The label is a culmination of carefully developed artistic prints of beautiful animal and plant prints with the finest yarns.
Ling Chen the designer, studied Fashion and Illustration at Parsons School of Design before launching this unusually artistic, enigmatic, beautiful line.
The Auntumn/Winter ‘10We Are Owls collection can be purchased through shopbop.com with free delivery worldwide in 3 days or less.
Frette- providers of luxury linens around the world since 1860, has recently launched a more casual line ‘Edmond‘. The sub- brand is named after the company’s founder Edmond Frette, and is aimed at a discerning, younger market than the Frette brand itself.
Frette’s exquisite quality of luxury goods for the home are comprised mostly of Egyptian cotton fine merino wool and cashmere. Over the centuries,Frette has been the supplier of choice to the most distinguished residences, royal courts, government residences, embassies and hotels such as the Ritz Carlton and Claridges of London.
The Italian company’s decision to incorporate the Edmond line is a nod to contemporary prints and more colourful patterns than their richly conservative classics. And we feel they’d be a very welcome addition to any bedroom, and would leave you feeling cofy and cosy for many a cool night!
We can’t resist a little bit of rock chick street style to get the juices going, and on a recent trip to London we were besotted with the world- renowned The Great Frog in Soho.

Not to be bedazzeled by the abundance of skulls and crosses of your average rock legend, guitar hero and/or your local biker, K+A found some really unique pieces of chunky silverware that could easily make friends with a Kate and Ava dress at a garden party.
All jewellery sold in The Great Frog is handcrafted instore and tailors to retro, gothic and ethnic styles. The Great Frog supplied all the jewellery in the Harry Potter movies and custom made pieces for the bands Aerosmith, Iron Maidenand Metallica.
If it’s good enough for Aerosmith, we felt these pieces might even be cool enough for the man in your life too!
We’ve been so delighted to hear your wonderful comments about our new Autumn/ Winter 2010 collection that we thought we’d give a little insight into our inspiration which was mostly taken from the glam era of the 70’s and 80’s and in particular the legendary New York haunts of Studio 54 from that time.
We loved the styles of Debbie Harry, Gloria Vandrbilt, Bianca Jagger and the likes of that time so much, that we felt we had to make a feature of them. Our photoshoot pays homage to their well- put- togetheredness by day and their all-out glamazonian chic by night!
Studio 54 was mostly frequented by movie starlets and rock and roll icons as well artists such as Andy Warhol and Salvador Dali and anyone with serious amounts of street cred!
Looking hot and partying hard was the order of the day… Both are values closely held in K+A’s hearts.
A few weeks ago we shot our AW10 photoshoot with photographer Ali King www.alisonking.ie .
Meg O Keefe from Image Magazine styled the shoot for us.
The fabulous Aisling Eyre www.makeupbyash.com looked after make up and Ciara Burke at Peter Mark, Grafton Street created a our over the top hair.
The inspiration for the shoot was nightlife and people from Studio 54 era. Naomi our model did a great job of getting into character.
We had a great day and Bushell interiors who provided the brilliant location were so accomodating. You can see exactly what went on by viewing the video above.
So things have been pretty busy here at K+A headquarters. One half of K+A celebrated a milestone birthday but I am not saying which half or which birthday!
Outfits for the night of parting where chosen from the AW 10 collection which will hit shops next week. I wore our satin crepe T shirt in blush with a little black skirt.
This top will be available from Bella in Drogheda Co Louth, Rous Iland, Mayfair, London and Seagreen Monkstown Dublin. It is also available from Muse in Waterford and County Boutique in Ennis in other colours.
I got these great shoes from my sisters
I like to have a good neutral shoe that will go with everything each season and I think these will fit the bill. I can spend any money I have left over on less sensible shoes now I have the necessities covered!
Due to all the recent parting we have also become addicted to eyelash extensions!! I know this sounds like seriously high maintenance but it is the one beauty treatment that is instantly noticeable and dramatic without looking false. I got mine from Urbana in Dublin and would highly recommend them!
Your wardrobe’s looking fab- brimming with all the latest Kate and Ava collection, your hair is did, the nails are gleaming from the last mani-pedi… but something’s still not quite right.
We’ve got it!
Time to change the interior scenery! And we have found the most exquisite reason of all to do so…
Artful, provocative, fascinating and oh so out-there, Timorous Beasties is the father and mother of all interior fabric prints, wallcoverings and prints today, which are works of art in their own right.
This company creates the most incredible prints from flock and damask, to beautiful yet nightmarish visions of insects, plants and fish and contemporary visions of modern London or the homeless of Glasgow.
Founded in Glasgow in 1990 by two friends who met while studying textile design at Glasgow School of Art, Timorous Beasties today has become the go-to gang for weird and wonderful room inspirations, while famed milliner Philip Treacy has even commisioned fabric prints for his hats.
This year saw the company take home the prestigious ICFF Award for Best Wallcovering for the fourth time.

Here at K&A we put time and effort in designing each and every garment. We imagine who is going to wear it. What shoes, bag and jewellery will complete the outfit? We also try to imagine what sort of event they will wear the dress to. When we do see people wearing our dresses sometimes they are exactly as we imagined and other times they are much more dramatic, brave, colourful or sophisticated than we could have ever hoped for.
We would love to see how you wear your “Kate and Ava” garment.

I am already planning my personal shoe and accessories wish list to go with our AW collection which will be in shops very very soon. These Miu Miu pumps are the newest addition to my shoe wish list, I think they would go so well with our lace trimmed shift dress for a prim and ladylike look. What do you think and what is on your wish list for Autumn?
